Kim Jung Un / Dennis Rodman documentary ‘Big Bang in Pyongyang’ screens later this month at JDIFF March 3, 2015

Stunning Dennis Rodman in North Korea documentary, Big Bang in Pyongyang will make its Irish Premier later this month at the James Dublin International Film Festival (19th – 29th of March)

Directed by Colin Offland, the cringe inducing and awe inspiring feature offers ‘an intimate behind the scenes look at Dennis Rodman’s unlikely friendship with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un and the staging of the most controversial game of basketball the world has never seen.’

Edited by Tom O’Flaherty, Warren Dowling was the online editor here at Screen Scene, where Peter Blayney completed the sound edit and Ken Galvin mixed the film in Centre Stage 1.

The film received strong reviews when it screened at this years Slamdance Festival, where it was nominated in the category of Best Documentary Feature. Variety called the film “A deftly constructed, consistently engrossing and frequently flat-out-hilarious account of a controversial sporting event with geopolitical implications”, while The Hollywood Reporter singled out Matt Coopers irony inflected voice over for “jauntily propeling the narrative through its many unlikely twists and turns.”
