We’re delighted to report that Terry McMahon’s critically lauded feature film, Patrick’s Day, took home the  award for Best Sound at last nights Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) Awards ceremony.

Full picture and sound post production on the film took place here at Screen Scene and Ardmore Sound last year, where it was mixed by Ken Galvin (the white shirted beauty getting photo bombed by Love/Hate’s Peter Coonan in the picture below).

This is Ken’s fourth time winning the Best Sound IFTA! Massive congratulations to him and the rest of the sound team; Hugh Fox (Production Sound Mixer), Nikki Moss (Sound Designer),  Fiadhnait McCann (Foley Mixer),  Eoghan McDonnell (Foley Artist), and  Hugh Fox. Yis are all brilliant!

Patricks Day also took home the IFTA awards for Best Lead Actor Film (Moe Dunford) and Best Film Script (Terry McMahon), while  Lenny Abrahmsons FRANK nabbed gongs for  Best Director Film (Lenny Abrahamson), Best Supporting Actor Film  (Domhnall Gleeson) and Director of Photography (James Mather). Frank also underwent full picture and Sound post here at Screen Scene and Ardmore Sound last year, with SSVFX providing all of Frank’s visual effects.

Aidan Gillen took home the award for Lead Role Drama for his work on ‘Charlie’, RTE”s aptly titled Charlie Haughey biopic, which also completed full picture and sound post (yep, you guessed it) here at Screen Scene.

TV3 will be bringing Irish viewers and the home audience all the excitement from the Ceremony and the Red-Carpet in a one hour IFTA Awards Special with highlights and interviews this June Bank Holiday Monday.

Huge congratulations to all involved on their well deserved wins!
