‘Rebellion’ proves a massive hit with viewers January 4, 2016

RTE’s 1916 rising drama ‘Rebellion’ made its debut on RTE Monday night and proved a massive ratings hit.

Starring Charlie Murphy, Brian Gleeson, Ruth Bradley, and Sarah Greene, the hugely anticipated five part serial explores the events that led to the Easter Rising in 1916, from the point of view of a group of friends living in Dublin, Belfast and London.

Written by Colin Teevan, Directed by Aku Louhimies and Produced by Catherine Magee; episode one pulled in an average viewership of 619,000, with 41% tuning in to watch it as it aired; an additional 45,000 people catching it on RTÉ One +1, and over 9,000 people viewing it on the RTÉ Player thus far.
