Screen Scene VFX nominated for Hollywood Post Alliance Award September 28, 2015

The Hollywood Post Alliance Awards (HPA) nominations were announced last week, and we’re pleased as punch to report that Screen Scene has been nominated in the ‘Outstanding Visual Effects – Television‘ category for our work on the third season of Ripper Street!

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the HPA Awards, which ‘honor artistic excellence and creative achievements within the greater post production industry.’ Considered the standard-bearer for excellence and innovation, the HPA Awards recognize outstanding achievement in Editing, Sound, Visual Effects and Color Grading for work in television, commercials, and feature films. Screen Scene VFX have been nominated for the Ripper Street Series Three episode ‘Whitechapel Terminus’ at this years event.

SSVFX were solely responsible for all the Visual Effects on Ripper Street Series Three, with Visual Effects Supervisor Ed Bruce overseeing his fantastic team here at our Dublin headquarters as well as providing the on-set supervision with VFX Coordinator Nicholas Murphy. The in-house team were managed and scheduled by VFX Producer Alan Collins and his VFX Coordinator Kenneth Coyne.

VFX Supervisor Ed Bruce was effuse in praise for his colleagues when news of the nomination broke; “I’m delighted that Nicholas Murphy, John O’Connell, Ronan Gantly and Joe Courtis join me as named nominees for our roles on Ripper Street. It is however a nod to the entire team — There are so many great artists that worked on this show! I’d like to give a special shout out to Kenneth Coyne who was a pillar on this job. It’s terrific to be competeting alongside such heavyweights in broadcast TV, and we’re proud to continue representing Irish VFX at the highest international level.”

Ripper Street – Whitechapel Terminus‘ will compete against Game of Thrones Season Five episode ‘Dance of Dragons‘ for the top prize at this years HPA Awards. Screen Scene VFX provided 88 shots for that episode, which earlier this month took home the gong for Outstanding VFX at the Creative Arts Emmy’s.

The winners of the 10th Annual HPA Awards will be announced at a gala ceremony on November 12, 2015, at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, CA.

SSVFX’s upcoming projects include, ITV’s ‘The Frankenstein Chronicles‘, the screen adaptation of Ken Follett’s best selling novel ‘A Dangerous Fortune’ and the fourth series of ‘Ripper Street’. Their work will next be seen on the big screen in Lenny Abrahamson’s critically lauded new film ‘Room’, which took home the peoples choice award at this years Toronto International Film Festival.
