Three Screen Scene posted films to screen at this years Sundance Film Festival January 16, 2015

The Sundance Film Festival takes place this month in Utah, with three Screen Scene posted features set to dazzle in the line up at the prestigious event. First up…

Gerard Barret’s fantastic feature film, GLASSLAND, has been selected to screen as part of the World Cinema Dramatic line up in this year’s program, screening alongside eleven other films from ‘emerging filmmaking talents from around the world who offer fresh perspectives and inventive styles’.

Written and directed by Barrett (Pilgrim Hill), ‘Glassland’ is an uncompromising and brilliantly executed portrayal of the grim reality of life for those forced to the edges of society in contemporary Ireland.

The film follows John (Jack Reynor), a young taxi driver on the fringes of the criminal underworld, who, in a desperate bid to save his mother from a crippling alcohol addiction and reunite his broken family, is forced to take a job that drives him further into Dublin’s dark underbelly…

Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense) co-stars alongside Will Poulter (‘The Maze Runner’) and award winning Northern Irish actor Michael Smiley (‘Kill List’) in the gripping drama, which was Produced by Ed Guiney (‘Frank’, What Richard Did’, ‘The Guard’) and Juliette Bonass (‘Get Up and Go’) for Element Pictures.

Edited by Nathan Nugent here at Screen Scene, full sound post on the film was carried out at Screen Scene and Ardmore sound (full credits can be found HERE)

Making its world premier in the Park City at Midnight strand, Colin Hardy’s spine tingling feature film debut, THE HALLOW, follows a London-based conservationist who relocates his family to take a job surveying an Irish forest.  Now stranded in the middle of nowhere, he must fight to protect his wife and child as they face the true nature of a malevolent and unspeakable evil. Pant browning horror subsequently ensues…

An Irish Film Board financed Irish/UK co-production, the film stars Bojana Novakovic, Joseph Mawle (Ripper Street) and Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones). Sound Post on the film was completed at Screen Scene and Ardmore Sound, where the wonderful Steve Fanagan weaved his magic as the Sound Designer and Sound Effects Editor and pepper haired delight Niall Brady did the business as Dialogue and ADR Editor .

Caoimhe Doyle was the Foley Artist, with Jean McGrath providing the Foley Mix. Michelle McCormack handled the Foley Edit.

Garret Farrell and Mark Fitzpatrick recorded the ADR for the film and Jennie Breen served as the Sound Edit Assistant.

Terrific twosome, Steve Fanagan and Garret Farrell, were the films Sound Re-recording Mixers.

Last but by no means least, Michael Madsen’s stunning documentary, THE VISIT will screen in the World Cinema Documentary Competition.

Exploring the hypothetical reaction to mankind’s first encounter with intelligent life from another world, the synopsis reads thusly:

An alien encounter. A hypothetical visitor arrives from Outer Space. The authorities are immediately alerted – the military, defence and communication advisors, and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs. How to deal with this unprecedented event? How to reassure Earth’s inhabitants, who are prone to panic, when you have no previous experience to draw upon?

The film was edited by Nathan Nugent here at Screen Scene, where Warren Dowling Onlined and Gary Curran graded.

John O’Riordan provided the title sequence and Peter Tighe Supervised Post Production. SSVFX provided the Visual effects.
