
Screen Scene posted film Good Vibrations, the tale of godfather of Irish punk Terri Hooley, walked away with the audience award for best Irish feature at the Galway Film Fleadh last night!
Directed by husband and wife team Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn (Cherrybomb), ‘Good Vibrations’ is the incredible true story of Belfast music legend and rebel Terri Hooley (Richard Dormer), who opens up a record shop on the most bombed half-mile in Europe. As a gesture of defiance against the Troubles, Terri uses the music of the city that he loves to resurrect Belfast. Edited by Nick Emerson, ‘Good Vibrations’ completed post production here at Screen Scene, with Warren Dowling Finishing, Michelle Cuniffe serving as the Dialogue Editor and Ken Galvin provided the Sound Mix. Nikki Moss was the Supervising Sound Editor on the film.
This is the second year in a row that a Screen Scene posted work has taken home top honours at the Fleadh, with ‘The Guard’ nabbing the prize at last years festival.
Other big winners at this years Fleadh included Citadel and Earthbound, with the two films dividing the award for best debut feature.
Pant browning nightmare maker Citadel tells the spine tingling tale of an agoraphobic father forced to face a gang of twisted, hooded feral children responsible for his wife’s murder was written and Directed by Ciaran Foy, with full sound post production for the film was carried out here at Screen Scene and at Ardmore Sound. The Sound Designer on the project was none other than Steve Fanagan, who also served as re-recording mixer alongside Garret Farrell. Dialogue was edited by Niall Brady, while the Foley was provided by Eoghan McDonnell and recorded by Jean McGrath, with Michelle McCormack editing. Hugh Fox was the location sound mixer.
Directed by Alan Brennan, Earthbound sees Rafe Spall play Joe Norman, a normal guy who is told by his father Bill (David Morrissey) that he is an alien and must continue his dying species to save his home planet. Sound post production on the film was completed here at Screen Scene and at Ardmore sound.
Screen Scene is also delighted to report that ‘Off The Board’ took home special mention in the Short Documentary category. Directed by Siobhán Perry and Produced by Róisin Linnie, the film was edited by Screen Scene hospitality department darling Louise Finn. Yay!
