The San Francisco Irish Film Festival will screen ten Irish independent films at the Roxie Film Center this September, opening with Ian Power’s ‘The Runway’!
Written and directed by Ian Power, ‘The Runway’ is loosely inspired by the true events of a South American pilot who crashed his airplane in a field near Mallow in Cork in 1983 and the local boy who convinced the town to fix the plane and build a (you guessed it) runway. Starring Demian Bichir (Che), Kerry Condon (This Must Be The Place, Rome) and James Cosmo (Outcast) the film is produced by Macdara Kelleher (Colony), Brendan McDonald (The Yard) and Bernard Michaux (Lumen). ‘The Runway’ will open the festival just ahead of its upcoming US release.
‘The Runway’ has already enjoyed much success, winning the best Irish feature award at the Galway Film Fleadh 2010 and an IFTA statuette in the category of Director of Photography for PJ Dillon (Kings). The film completed post-production here at Screen Scene, where Gary Curran was HD Colourist and Simon Thornton was HD Finisher.
The San Francisco Irish Film Festival will take place from September 22nd – 25th at the Roxie Film Center. For more information, visit http://www.sfirishfilm.com.
