Produced under the RTÉ/Filmbase short film scheme, The Pool tells the story of a group of kids who break into a swimming pool at night. A macho breath-holding contest ensues and when teasing turns to bullying the tension escalates. By the end of the night none of their lives will ever be the same.
The film was written by Thomas Hefferon and TJ Hundtofte, with Thomas also directing. Producers on the short were Fiona Kinsella and Dave Leahy.
The film was shot over four days on location in Marion College in Dublin. DOP was Ruairi Robinson on the RED camera. Post production took place at Screen Scene where Derek Holland worked closely with Thomas throughout the edit. Gavin Casey treated the underwater footage in Flame, blacking out the backgrounds, adding a murky feel to the underwater world.
The Pool has been submitted to a number of Irish and International festivals. Check back in to the Screen Scene website for updates.
