LAST DAYS ON MARS

Ruairi Robinson’s Last Days On Mars made its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this week!

The sci-fi adventure, which wrapped filming in Jordan last July, stars Golden Globe-nominee Liev Schreiber, tells the story of an astronaut crew on an exploratory mission to Mars who, on the eve of their return to Earth, discover colonies of bacteria living deep within the permafrost. But what should have been the discovery of the century rapidly turns to horror when one of the astronauts has a fatal accident.

Co-Starring Olivia Williams, Romola Garai, Elias Koteas and Johnny Harris, Last Days on Mars is a co-production between Dublin based Fantastic Films and Qwerty Films in London.

Screening as part of the Director s’ Fortnight, ‘Last Days on Mars’, the debut feature from Ruairí Robinson, completed Picture post-production here at sunny Screen Scene this week, with Screen Scene providing all of the Visual Effects for the film.

Sound post production on the film was carried out between Screen Scene and Ardmore Sound.

With Ruairi Robinson being singled out as a Director to watch after the films debut screening, Screen Scene are delighted to report that the strength of the films VFX have also been singled out in a number of early reviews:

‘The visual effects team whipping up truly menacing dust storms’ gushed The Hollywood Reporter, while Variety stated that the ‘Visual effects work is subtly topnotch.’
