Albert Nobbs

Oscar nominated and IFTA award winning feature, ‘Albert Nobbs’, sees a career best Glenn Close reprise her stage role as an Englishwoman who disguises herself as a man in order to survive in male-dominated 19th-century Ireland -- but her gender bending deception leads to an unusual love triangle.

Based on a short story by Irish novelist George Moore, the screenplay was written by Glenn Close (who also produced) and John Banville. The film also features an ensemble cast which includes Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Brendan Gleeson, Pauline Collins, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Aaron Johnson (Godzilla and Kick-Ass) and Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) and Janet McTeer, who earned a best supporting actress Academy award nomination for her stunning performance.  The film was shot in Dublin in December 2010 and January 2011 and co-produced by Alan Moloney (Breakfast on Pluto).

The Parallel Films production received four stars from The Guardian upon its release, calling Glenn Close’s Oscar nominated performance ‘terrific.” ‘Albert Nobbs’ VFX was completed here at Screen Scene under VFX Supervisor Ed Bruce and VFX Producer Sarah Mooney.

The Sound was Supervised by Niall Brady and mixed on the main stage at Ardmore Sound, with the film winning an IFTA for Best Sound TV/Drama at the 2012 Irish Film and Television Awards.
