Alone it Stands

John Breen’s award winning play 'Alone It Stands' is set against the backdrop of Munster’s historic win against the All Blacks in Thomand Park in 1978. There is a birth, a wake, and a rugby match that will never be forgotten.

‘Alone it Stands’ is performed by six actors playing a myriad of roles – Tony Ward and the Munster team, the All Blacks and their coach, the fanatical Limerick rugby fans desperate for tickets, the ‘quality’ up from Cork, a ball, a dog and of course the Bunratty singers!

In 2008. Screen Scene completed post production on both a DVD of the play and a documentary on Munster’s historic win. Both were produced by Aideen Kane for Gyre and Gimble productions and directed by John Breen. The documentary features contributions from Moss Keane, Tony Ward, Seamus Dennison, Graham Mourie, Stu Wilson, Gary Knight, Munster trainer Tom Kiernan and many more.
