Bulmers – Original Footage

When Tom, the Bulmers Orchard boss finds an old film reel in the attic, the workers get a glimpse back to 1935 and the Opening of the Vat House. While Tom thinks that a lot has changed since those days we see that nothing really has, with the same time honoured brewing techniques and traditions being used.

Part of the ongoing series, the commercial was  in Clonmel at the Bulmers Orchard where Damien O’Donnell directed the ad for Russell Curran and Young Euro RSCG.

Jake Walshe edited the spot before handing over to Flame Artist Allen Sillery who brought us back in time. “I had to treat the footage to make it look like old 30’s film & comp it into our scenes “ explains Allen. “Also, ‘cosmetic’ work was carried out on our end product shot & other invisible tweaks were made to some shots, to create seamless images.” The combination of in-camera techniques, stock footage and graphics work all meshed together to create the overall look “We sourced old Pathé newsreel stock for reference. Damien then shot scenes at different frame speeds & also sourced old ‘Apple/Orchard growing’ documentaries which we included in the ad.“

Gary Curran then completed the Grade to finish off the look.
