Dambe: The Mali Project

Dambe: The Mali Project is a 2008 feature length documentary that follows Irish musicians Liam O’Maonlai (Hothouse Flowers) and Paddy Keenan (The Bothy Band) on a musical adventure in the heart of Africa — a journey which culminates in an extraordinary performance at the world’s most remote music festival ‘Festival au Desert’ outside Timbuktu in the Sahara.

The film was produced by Vanessa Gildea and directed by Dearbhla Glynn of Luachra productions. Ken Galvin completed the sound mix here in Screen Scene’s Centre Stage 2, Anna Kierans graded and Simon Thornton completed the online.

‘Dambe: The Mali project’ was runner-up in the 2008 audience award at the Dublin International Film Festival and has since been met with critical acclaim.
