Ripper Street – Series One – Breakdowns

Screen Scene VFX completed all the visual effects work on BBC’s Ripper Street’s season 1.

Dark as a drum full of cocoa beans, the extraordinary drama, which originally aired on BBC, is set in the East End of London during the aftermath of the Rippers grisly killings. The action centres around the notorious H Division – the police precinct from hell – and the officers charged with impossible task of keeping order in the chaotic streets of Whitechapel.

Created by writer Richard Warlow (Mistresses, Waking The Dead), Ripper Street explores the lives of characters trying to recover from the Ripper’s legacy, from crimes that have not only irretrievably altered their lives, but changed the very fabric of their city…

Starring Matthew Macfadyen (Pride and Prejudice, Frost/Nixon), Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones), Adam Rothenberg (House), and Joe Gilgun, (This is England, Lockout) the eight-part BBC series was filmed in various locations around Dublin back in 2012, with the fair city standing in to recreate London’s East End in 1889.

Awarded the Silver for Best VFX in TV Series at the 2013 Australian Effects & Animation Festival (Silver), you can check out the nifty breakdown of our work above.
