Ripper Street – Series Three

Screen Scene VFX (SSVFX) were solely responsible for creating the Visual Effects for the third season of Tiger Aspect’s hit Victorian crime drama, which returned to screens in late 2014 courtesy of Amazon Prime, the online video service that was instrumental in bringing the show back for its much demanded third series.

Brought to life under the watchful eye of Visual Effects Supervisor Ed Bruce, who provided the on-set supervision with his ever diligent VFX Coordinator Nicholas Murphy, the in-house team were managed and scheduled by VFX Producer Alan Collins and Visual Effects Production Manager Kenneth Coyne.

SSVFX received a 2015 BAFTA TV Craft Award nomination for their incredible work on the series in March of 2015, with VFX Supervisor Ed Bruce, 3D Supervisor John O’Connell and VFX Co-ordinator Nicholas Murphy all nominated in the Special, Visual and Graphics category.

For the second year in a row, Screen Scene VFX took home the Gold at the Australian Effects and Animation Awards (AEAF) for their spectacular VFX work on the series. Emerging victorious in the category of Best TV series VFX, Ripper Street beat out stiff competition from ‘Fortitude‘ and ‘Australia: The Story of Us‘ to take the top spot at this years event.

The team went on to win a Royal Television Society ‘Craft & Design’ Award in the category of Best ‘Effects- Digital’ for the episode ‘Whitechapel Terminus’.
