The Runway

Written and directed by Ian Power, ‘The Runway’ is loosely inspired by the true story of a South American pilot who made an emergency landing on Mallow racecourse Co. Cork, in 1983.

Against all odds, the people of the town came together to build a runway to get him home and briefly caught the imagination of the nation

Starring Demian Bichir (Che), Kerry Condon (This Must Be The Place, Rome) and James Cosmo (Outcast) the film was produced by Macdara Kelleher (Colony), Brendan McDonald (The Yard) and Bernard Michaux (Lumen).

‘The Runway’ enjoyed much success upon its release in Irish cinemas, winning the best Irish feature award at the Galway Film Fleadh 2010 and an IFTA statuette in the category of Director of Photography for PJ Dillon (Kings).

The film completed post-production here at Screen Scene, where Gary Curran was HD Colourist and Simon Thornton was HD Finisher.
