GLASSLAND chosen for Sundance Film Festival December 8, 2014


Gerard Barret’s fantastic feature film, Glassland has been selected to screen as part of the World Cinema Dramatic line up at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.

The film will screen along eleven other films from‘emerging filmmaking talents from around the world who offer fresh perspectives and inventive styles’, at the prestigious event which will take place January 22 – February 1.

Written and directed by Barrett (Pilgrim Hill), ‘Glassland’ is an uncompromising and brilliantly executed portrayal of the grim reality of life for those forced to the edges of society in contemporary Ireland, with a formidable cast lead by rising star du jour, Jack Reynor (‘What Richard Did’).

The film follows John (Reynor), a young taxi driver on the fringes of the criminal underworld, who, in a desperate bid to save his mother from a crippling alcohol addiction and reunite his broken family, is forced to take a job drives him further into Dublin’s dark underbelly…

Australian award magnet, Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense) co-stars alongside Will Poulter (‘Son of Rambow’) and award winning Northern Irish actor Michael Smiley (‘Kill List’).

Produced by Ed Guiney (‘Frank’, What Richard Did’, ‘The Guard’) and Juliette Bonass (‘Get Up and Go’) for Element Pictures, the film was Edited by Nathan Nugent here at Screen Scene.
