RTE’s powerful three part drama ‘Charlie’ will begin on January 4th December 23, 2014


Episode one of ‘Charlie’, RTÉ’s three-part drama charting the rise and fall of former Taoiseach Charles Haughey, kicks off Sunday the 4th January on RTE One.

Running over three consecutive Sundays. the show charts the emergence of modern Ireland through the mesmeric figure of Charles J Haughey and his pursuit of power, wealth and glamour.

Tracing his turbulent political career from 1979 to 1992, Aidan Gillen stars in the lead role alongside fellow ‘Love/Hate’ actors Tom Vaughan-Lawlor and Laurence Kinlan, with Vaughan-Lawlor playing Haughey’s adviser PJ Mara and Kinlan as Independent TD Tony Gregory.

Produced by Touchpaper and Element Pictures, Written by Dublin playwright Colin Teevan and Directed by Kenny Glenaan and Charlie McCarthy, the three 90 minute instalments have undergone full Picture and Sound post Production here at Screen Scene and Ardmore Sound, where Nathan Nugent and Isobel Stephenson edited, Simon Thornton onlined, Gary Curran graded, Michelle Fingleton Supervised Sound and Garret Farrell provided the mix.
