We’re over the moon to report that two Screen Scene posted films have been nominated for Oscars at the 91st Academy Awards.

Yorgos Lanthimos’ jet black period comedy ‘The Favorite’ scored a whopping ten nominations, including Best Picture; with  Lanthimos deservedly up for Best Director, the incredible Olivia Colman the front runner for Best Actress, and co stars Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz both in the running for Best Supporting Actress.

The film is also nominated in the categories of Best Original Screenplay, Cinematography Film Editing, Production Design, Costume Design.

Screen Scene and Ardmore Sound were proud to part of the films sound team, with Screen Scene providing all the film’s VFX.

The Favourtie is the third collaboration between Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos and Irish company Element Pictures. 


Gripping 30 minute drama, Detainment, written and Directed by Vincent Lambe, has also been nominated for the “Best Live Action Short” award.

Based on transcripts of police interviews with Jon Venables and Robert Thompson, who abducted, tortured and murdered two-year-old James Bolger in Liverpool in 1993. The film has gained critical acclaim since it debuted on the festival circuit, wining both the Best Short Film and the Special Jury award at the Cannes Lions Festival.
