The IFTA Film and Drama nominations have been announced… April 29, 2015

The nominees for the 2015 IFTA Film and Drama Awards have just been announced, and we’re delighted to report that a massive amount of Screen Scene posted gems have received nods across the 27 categories.

Frank and Patrick’s Day led the way with nine nominations each, with ‘Glassland’ receiving a more than respectable six nods. Frank and Patrick’s Day both received full picture and Sound Post here and at Ardmore Sound, with SSVFX providing all of Frank’s visual effects, while Glassland received its offline edit and full sound post here and at Ardmore Sound.

Four out of the six features nominated for the Best Film category underwent post production here at Screen Scene and Ardmore Sound  — Frank, Glassland, Patrick’s Day,  I Used to live here (sound mix only) —  while every single Best Director nominee posted their feature here with us (Lenny Abrahamson - Frank, Gerard Barrett - Glassland, John Carney - Begin Again, Terry McMahon - Patrick’s Day). Yay!

In the Drama department, RTE”s Charlie Haughey biopic, the aptly named ‘Charlie’, was nominated in three categories — Best Drama, Best Acting (Aiden Gillen) Best Writer (Colin Teevan). The show also completed full picture and sound post here at Screen Scene.

Screen Scene stalwart Nathan Nugent was nominated for the Best Editing Award for his work on Lenny Abrahamson’s Frank, while our incredible sound team of Ken Galvin, Steve Fanagan & Niall Brady were nominated in the Best Sound category for their work on the same film.

Nominated alongside Hugh Fox & Nikki Moss, Ken Galvin will compete against himself in the Best Sound Category for his work on Terry McMahon’s Patrick’s Day.

Freelance editor and staff favourite, Emer Reynolds, was also nominated in the Best Editing category for her work on  the same film, which she cut here at Screen Scene.

Taking place Sunday 24th May at the Round Room at the Mansion House, the IFTA Awards can be seen in all their glittering glory on TV3 in a one hour IFTA Awards Special. Huge congratulations to all involved on their well deserved nominations! Yis are only brilliant!
