‘The land of the enlightened’ opens in IFI this Friday November 8, 2016

Stunning quasi-documentary feature, ‘The Land of the Enlightened’, opens in the Irish Film Institute this Friday the 11th November.

The film, which took home the World Cinema Cinematography Award, Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, charts ‘the complex Afghani war economy told through the eyes of the children who have found themselves caught up in the on-going American occupation,’

Directed by Pieter-Jan De Pue, the visually arresting feature was filmed over the course of seven years, and shot on 16mm film.

Full picture post on The land of the Enlightened was completed here at Screen Scene. Graded by Donal O’Kane, Warren Dowling was the finishing editor on the film, which received its TV edit from our very own Martha Meyler.

The co-production was produced by Morgan Bushe for Irish production company Fastnet Films (with funding from the Irish Film Board) together with Savage Film, Submarine, Eyeworks and Gerbrueder Beetz Produktion.

The film’s director Pieter-Jan De Pue will be in attendance for a special opening night screening and Q&A in the IFI at 18.20 on Friday evening.
