Vincent Gallagher’s ‘Love is a Sting’ wins Grand Prix Award at Cork Film Festival November 16, 2015

RTÉ/Filmbase funded short, Love is a Sting was selected as the Grand Prix Irish short film winner at the 60th Cork Film Festival  last weekend.

The film will now be entered onto the Academy Awards longlist in the Live Action Short Film / Animated Short Film category for next years Oscars.

The charming film, which premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh earlier this year, follows struggling children’s book writer Harold Finch, who gains an ‘unexpected house guest in the form of Anabel: a 20 year old hyper-intelligent mosquito. Anabel has literally been the fly on the wall throughout history, but has never managed to communicate with a human. She will attempt to do so now, even if it kills her.’

Starring Seán T. Ó Meallaigh, Love is a Sting was Directed by Vincent Gallagher for Fail Safe Films. The short underwent full picture and Sound post here at Screen Scene where it was edited by Martha Meyler (see full list of Screen Scene credits below).
